Who it is for
Review analysis for restaurants and cafés
Short reviews, plenty of emotion, ratings written at the table or in the car outside. The value is in repetition: one remark about waiting time means nothing, forty of them point at the hours when the kitchen is short-staffed.
What keeps coming back in guest reviews
Patterns that recur from one restaurant to the next.
Waiting time at peak hours
It is almost never about the length itself but about not knowing how long it will take. The report shows which hours the complaint clusters in.
Consistency of a dish
The same dish excellent once and over-salted the next time. The most dangerous pattern in hospitality, because it damages trust in the whole menu, not one item.
Service: attention, not politeness
Guests rarely write that a waiter was rude. They write that nobody came over for twenty minutes — and that is an entirely different fix.
Price against portion
A complaint about price is nearly always a complaint about what arrived on the plate for it. Changing the portion is often cheaper than cutting the price.
Noise and room acoustics
Something an owner only learns from reviews, because nobody raises it at the table. It decides whether the place works for a business lunch.
Bookings and table availability
An unconfirmed booking, a table given away, an unanswered message. The complaint forms before the guest eats anything.
Where reviews about your restaurant live
Google Maps is the base: the first result for your name and the largest volume. TripAdvisor matters for tourists and out-of-town guests, Facebook for regulars — and in many places the reviews tab there is switched off, so reviews have nowhere to appear. Mutterbox pulls all three.
Analysis categories in this industry
Food arrives after forty minutes and nobody checks in
The complaint concentrates on Friday and Saturday evenings. Guests are not annoyed by the wait itself but by the silence: reviews keep repeating that nobody came to the table.
„Forty minutes for pasta and in all that time nobody came over, not even for water" Google · 22.05.2026 · review #33190
„The order came after an hour, the waitress only apologised once we asked ourselves" TripAdvisor · 09.05.2026 · review #32844
Questions from restaurateurs
We have two locations. Will we see them separately?
Yes — each location is its own venue with its own report, tied together by the company. That matters, because kitchen complaints almost never split evenly between locations, and an averaged report would hide the one with the problem.
Most of our reviews are only a few words long.
Short reviews count towards statistics and the average, but a signal only comes from the ones that say WHAT for. The report states plainly how many reviews had text — without that number the whole result could not be weighed.
Will we see which dishes recur in complaints?
Yes, when guests name them — and in hospitality they usually do. You can also add your own categories, for instance pizza and breakfast separately, and the analysis will start using them on the next run.
